These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of autowarrantyoptions.com, its tools, My Garage and our emails (together, the "Site"), operated by AutoWarranty Options LLC ("we," "us"), 44661 Sterling Hwy, Soldotna, Alaska 99669. By using the Site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
1. Information only, not advice
The Site publishes general educational information about owning a vehicle: warranties, service contracts, recalls, maintenance, financing, insurance and ownership costs. It is not mechanical, legal, financial or insurance advice, and it does not take your vehicle's condition or your personal situation into account. Warning-light and repair information is general. If a warning light or symptom suggests a safety problem, stop driving when it is safe to do so and have the vehicle checked by a qualified technician.
2. Who we are not
We are an independent publisher. We are not a vehicle manufacturer, dealer, repair shop, insurer, lender, warranty provider or government agency, and we are not affiliated with any automaker or with NHTSA. We do not sell vehicle service contracts, insurance or loans. Vehicle service contracts are not manufacturer warranties.
3. Tools, data and estimates
- Calculators (loan, refinance, negative equity) work only from the numbers you enter. Results are estimates, not offers or quotes from any lender.
- Recall, complaint and VIN information comes from NHTSA's public data, shown as provided. Recalls are issued for a vehicle model; whether your own vehicle still needs a recall repair depends on its VIN. Check with NHTSA or a dealer. Owner complaints are unverified reports.
- Factory warranty terms come from manufacturers' own published warranty documents for the model years we have on file. Manufacturers change terms, and coverage for a specific vehicle depends on its in-service date, ownership history and the manufacturer's records. Your manufacturer's warranty booklet and dealer are the authoritative sources.
- The Protection Check, Coverage Explorer and Coverage Mapper give general guidance, not a determination of what any warranty, contract or policy will pay for. Read your own documents.
4. Accuracy of content
We work to keep content accurate and up to date and show when each guide was last updated. Laws, programs, warranty terms and prices change, and content may contain errors or omissions. We do not guarantee that any content is complete, current or suitable for your situation. If you spot an error, tell us at [email protected].
5. Your account and your content
You are responsible for keeping access to your email account secure, since sign-in links are sent there, and for activity under your account. You keep ownership of everything you add to My Garage, including records and uploaded documents. You give us permission to store, process and show that content to you so we can run the Site. Only upload documents you have the right to keep. You can delete your content, or your whole account, at any time in Settings.
6. Emails
Account emails (sign-in links and reminders about your vehicles) and any newsletter or monthly summary you sign up for are described in our Privacy Policy. You can stop reminders, summaries and newsletters at any time with the link in each email or in Settings → Email preferences. We may stop or change any email at any time.
7. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use the Site, create an account or subscribe to our emails.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Site for any unlawful purpose;
- enter someone else's email address, or sign others up without their permission;
- upload anything unlawful, harmful, or that infringes someone else's rights;
- generate fake signups or traffic;
- scrape, copy or republish Site content in bulk, or use automated tools to access the Site or its tools, except standard search engine crawlers;
- attempt to break, overload or gain unauthorized access to the Site, its servers or other people's accounts.
We may block access or close accounts that violate these Terms.
9. Third-party links
The Site links to websites we do not control, such as NHTSA's recall lookup and manufacturers' sites. We are not responsible for their content, products or policies. If we ever include paid links or offers, they will be labeled as described on our How We Make Money page.
10. Intellectual property
The Site's articles, tools, design, logos and other content belong to us or our licensors and are protected by copyright and trademark laws. You may view and share links to our content for personal, non-commercial use. You may quote short excerpts with a link back to the original page. Any other use requires our written permission. Vehicle makes, models and other third-party trademarks belong to their owners and are used only to identify vehicles.
11. Disclaimer of warranties
THE SITE AND ALL CONTENT ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SITE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE OR SECURE, OR THAT DATA YOU STORE ON IT WILL NEVER BE LOST. KEEP YOUR OWN COPIES OF IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS.
12. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SITE, YOUR RELIANCE ON ITS CONTENT OR TOOLS, OR YOUR DEALINGS WITH ANY THIRD PARTY, INCLUDING ANY MANUFACTURER, DEALER, REPAIR SHOP, INSURER OR CONTRACT PROVIDER. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SITE WILL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (US$100). SOME STATES DO NOT ALLOW THESE LIMITATIONS, SO THEY MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.
13. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from claims, losses and expenses, including reasonable attorneys' fees, arising from your violation of these Terms or misuse of the Site.
14. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Alaska, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute relating to the Site or these Terms will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Alaska, unless the law of your state of residence requires otherwise. Before filing any claim, you agree to contact us at [email protected] and try to resolve it informally for 30 days.
15. Changes and termination
We may change these Terms by posting a new version with a new effective date. Continued use of the Site after the change means you accept the new Terms. We may suspend or discontinue the Site, or any part of it, at any time; if we discontinue My Garage, we will give account holders reasonable notice by email so they can save their documents.
16. Miscellaneous
If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. These Terms, our Privacy Policy and our How We Make Money page are the entire agreement between you and us about the Site.
