12-Volt Battery
Manufacturer warranty
The original battery is often covered for a shorter or prorated period that can differ from the vehicle's bumper-to-bumper term, since it's a wear item with a limited expected life — check the warranty booklet. A replacement battery usually carries its own warranty from the battery maker or the shop that installed it.
Powertrain coverage
Not included — the starting/charging battery is not part of the powertrain (a hybrid or EV's separate high-voltage traction battery is a different component with its own coverage considerations).
Exclusionary service contract
Wear items like the 12-volt battery are commonly excluded from service contracts.
Auto insurance
Normal wear-out is not covered by standard auto insurance.
Manufacturer recall
Only applicable if there's an open recall for a specific battery defect, which is uncommon for ordinary wear-out.

This is general guidance about how these coverage categories typically work, not a diagnosis or a claim about any specific provider, manufacturer or your own contract. Always check your actual warranty booklet or service contract for what's really covered.
