Glow Plug Indicator (Diesel)

Informational

What it generally indicates

On diesel vehicles, indicates the glow plugs are pre-heating the engine before starting, or — if it comes on while driving — a possible fault.

Possible causes

Normal cold-start pre-heating, or a failing glow plug or related sensor if it appears while driving.

Whether continued driving may be risky

During startup, this is normal and just means wait a moment before cranking the engine. If it appears while driving, the vehicle may run roughly, especially in cold weather.

What a technician may inspect

Wait for the light to go off before starting, as the owner's manual describes; if it appears while driving, a technician can check the glow plug system.

This is general guidance, not a diagnosis — your owner's manual is the final word for your specific model, and a qualified technician should confirm the actual cause.
