Master Warning / Check Vehicle Light

Service Soon

What it generally indicates

A general alert used on many vehicles to draw attention to a message in the driver information display — it doesn't identify the problem on its own.

Possible causes

Any number of underlying warnings, from a fluid level to a system fault, shown as a specific message elsewhere in the instrument cluster.

Whether continued driving may be risky

Depends entirely on the specific message it's paired with — check the message display right away to see what it's actually flagging. On many vehicles a red warning light signals something that needs attention immediately, while yellow or amber means it should be checked soon.

What a technician may inspect

Read the accompanying message in the driver information display; if none is shown or unclear, a technician can check for stored diagnostic codes.

This is general guidance, not a diagnosis — your owner's manual is the final word for your specific model, and a qualified technician should confirm the actual cause.
