Security / Immobilizer Warning Light

Informational

What it generally indicates

Indicates the vehicle's anti-theft immobilizer system, which usually blinks briefly when the vehicle is locked and armed.

Possible causes

Normal arming of the security system, or — if the vehicle fails to start — the key not being recognized, often because of a weak key-fob battery, a damaged key or an immobilizer fault.

Whether continued driving may be risky

If it's just blinking while parked and locked, that's normal. If it stays on and the vehicle won't start, the immobilizer may not be recognizing the key.

What a technician may inspect

Try a spare key if the vehicle won't start; a technician can check the immobilizer system if the issue persists.

This is general guidance, not a diagnosis — your owner's manual is the final word for your specific model, and a qualified technician should confirm the actual cause.
